Newport, Isle of Wight – May 10, 2025 – Riverfest, the Isle of Wight’s beloved free, award-winning community event, is back this Saturday, 10th May, transforming The Quay in Newport into a vibrant hub of music, food, and family-friendly activities. Organised by the Newport Carnival & Community Events Association, this award-winning event promises a day filled with local talent, cultural showcases, and festive cheer.
Event Highlights:
- Opening Parade & Vectis Corps of Drums (10:00 AM): The festivities kick off with a lively parade starting from St Thomas’ Square at 9:50 AM, culminating at The Quay with a ceremonial cannon fire.
- Crowning of the Carnival Royalty (10:15 AM): Isle of Wight High Sheriff, Jacqueline Gazzard, will crown this year’s Carnival Royalty on the Main Stage.
- Live Performances: Enjoy a diverse lineup of entertainment, including:
- Stevo & Magic Kai (10:30 AM): Award-winning family entertainers bringing magic and fun for all ages.
- Medina Marching Band (11:00 AM): A thrilling performance in the style of HM Royal Marines Bands.
- Flash Kirby (11:30 AM): Live music from this talented Isle of Wight entertainer and singer.
- Long Island Stompers (12:00 PM): Line dancing takes centre stage — come join in or just enjoy the moves!
- Natalie as Kylie Minogue (12:30 PM): An energetic tribute to pop icon Kylie — complete with all the hits!
- FAT Samba Band (1:30 PM): Freshwater and Totland’s own samba group, bursting with rhythm and colour.
- Ali’s Fitness Fusion (2:00 PM): Get moving with this fun, high-energy fitness showcase.
- Cornerstone Band (2:30 PM): This high-tempo local favourite brings the party to a close with a bang!
- The event concludes at 4:00 PM.
Additional Attractions:
Beyond the stage, attendees can explore a variety of food and drink stalls, craft vendors, and interactive activities suitable for all ages. Local charities will also be present, offering insights into their community work and environmental initiatives.
